DESCRIPTIONS:
The Department of Economics Double Major Program covers all the students enrolled in the program as of 2018-2019 academic year.
In order for the student to complete the Double Major Program, all the compulsory courses in the TABLE must be achieved. If the student has taken the ECON curriculum in his/her department, the course (s) cannot be deducted from the current ECTS load. However, instead, he/she has to complete the ECTS load by taking the ECON coded TRACK elective courses in the curriculum of economics.
ADJUSTMENT
- Students enrolled in the program in previous academic years are subject to course matching by the 2018-2019 curriculum adjustment provisions. However, the student is subject to the total ECTS load of the year he/she enters the Double Major Program.
- The courses which had been included (and successfully completed by the student thereof) in a previous Double Major Program curriculum are included in the current curriculum as ECON courses.
- In the event that no courses in the double major program of the year in which the students are registered in the previous academic years are subject to the program, the student must first complete the credit load by taking the new double major program courses or the ECON coded TRACK courses.
TRACK ELECTIVE COURSES
This program, which aims to prepare the graduates of the Department of Economics with highly qualified education by directing them to specific goals, consists of five different (specialised) fields of economics starting from the fifth semester. In addition to the academic field, these fields of expertise are ‘Production and Trade’, ‘Economics and Finance’, ‘Economics and Business’, ‘Political Economy and Public Sector’. While the field of production and trade focuses on real production economics and trade, as well as real investment and growth, the field of Economics and Finance consists of courses that the financial sector needs with a reliable economic infrastructure. The field of Economics and Business Administration consists of courses strengthening the link between business and economics. The field of Political Economy and Public Sector aims to train economists who are considering to work in the public sector. Students who choose one of these fields must have completed at least ten courses (six of which are compulsory and four of which are field elective) in order to provide field expertise. Students who do not wish to choose one of these fields may also create their general area of expertise, by taking courses mixed of all fields provided that at least eight are ECON coded. The requirement for each track to be opened is subject to the minimum number of enrolled students and the approval of the Department of Economics.
